This inclination is largely fueled by the constant emergence of success stories within the startup landscape. One such inspiring tale is that of Chinu Kala, the founder of Ruban Accessories, who managed to build a multimillion-dollar enterprise despite lacking formal education and significant qualifications.

Chinu Kala’s journey began at the age of 15 when she left her home due to familial issues, finding herself on the streets with only 300 rupees in her pocket. Facing adversity, she rented a room for Rs 20 per day, marking the challenging start of her entrepreneurial odyssey.

During her early struggles, Chinu sought employment and eventually secured a position as a sales girl, tasked with selling knife sets and other products door-to-door. Despite numerous rejections and closed doors, she persisted, eventually becoming a supervisor in the same job. This role not only improved her financial situation but also involved training other girls, contributing to her ascent.

After enduring various jobs and hardships, Chinu’s life took a positive turn when she married Amit Kala in 2004 and moved to Bengaluru. Her luck changed further when she participated in a modeling competition in 2006, sparking the idea of venturing into the jewelry business. This idea materialized in 2014 when Chinu founded Ruban Accessories, specializing in western and contemporary jewelry sets.

The company’s growth trajectory was remarkable, with the opening of physical stores and the expansion to online platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra. Today, Ruban Accessories boasts a valuation exceeding Rs 100 crores, with a substantial monthly revenue. Chinu Kala’s story serves as a testament to her resilience and determination, transforming a challenging beginning into a thriving business empire.
