Pune, 8th June 2026 : Advance bookings for acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic film The Odyssey opened across India at 10 a.m. on Sunday, more than a month ahead of its release. While anticipation for the film remains exceptionally high, ticket prices have sparked widespread discussion among moviegoers, particularly in Pune, where IMAX tickets have reached an unprecedented ₹3,000.

Universal Pictures has currently opened bookings for only two IMAX shows per location—one morning show and one evening show. Contrary to expectations of uniformly high prices across the country, several cities have offered relatively affordable ticket rates.

In Mumbai, ticket prices remain moderate at many IMAX locations. Luxury cinema venues such as Inox Malad and Eros IMAX have priced tickets between ₹450 and ₹800, while PVR Lower Parel’s premium seats are available for up to ₹1,400.

Delhi-NCR has emerged as one of the most affordable regions for Nolan fans. Inox Paras is offering tickets at rates ranging from ₹370 to ₹650, making it the cheapest IMAX venue in India for The Odyssey. Other theatres, including PVR Priya, PVR Superplex Noida and Inox Vishal Mall, have also maintained comparatively reasonable pricing.

Meanwhile, southern cities have displayed a mixed pricing trend. Cinepolis Nexus Bengaluru is charging between ₹900 and ₹1,000, while Cinepolis Kochi tickets are priced up to ₹950. Kolkata’s Inox South City remains among the more affordable options, with tickets ranging from ₹470 to ₹710.

However, Pune has recorded the highest ticket prices in the country. At Cinepolis Aundh and Inox Megaplex, morning show tickets are priced at ₹1,400, ₹1,500 and ₹2,600. Evening show rates climb even further, reaching ₹1,600, ₹1,700 and an eye-catching ₹3,000 for premium seats.

Industry observers note that dynamic pricing may further impact ticket costs as demand rises closer to the film’s release. Several major IMAX properties across India, including venues in Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, had not yet opened bookings as of Sunday morning.

With excitement surrounding Nolan’s adaptation of the legendary Greek epic continuing to build, the film is already setting records for advance ticket pricing, particularly in Pune, where audiences may have to pay the highest premium in India for the IMAX experience.
