CM chairs MSME advisory Board meeting

Ahmedabad, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel today chaired MSME Advisory Board meeting and launched regional facilitation desk in four cities to help and promote industries in a broader way. The regional facilitation desks have been set-up in Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat with all modern facilities.

These desks will provide guidance, information on various schemes of the state and central government. These will also offer assistance of market linkages for industrial set-up and channels for finance assistance avaibility to the interested investors. Also, brochures and booklets highlighting policies-schemes of the state, online facilities and e-portal assistance will be made available to the investors.

Addressing the meeting, Mrs. Patel said that MSME offers equal contributions for the industrial development of the state just like bigger industries. More than 6 lakh MSMEs are registered in the state which provide employments to about 39 lakh people. Small and medium industries are the key factor for the industrial development of the state and the state government is constantly trying to help and to strengthen the industries.

She expressed firm commitment to solve the problems of industries through MSME advisor Board. She also made four important decisions for the development of MSME in the state. As per the decisions, period of getting ‘Consent to Establish’ from Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has been extended from five to seven years.

Industries which do not fall in green category as per environmental status, can submit self-certified annual compliance report. For such reports, officials of the Pollution Control Board will not require compulsory visit to the industrial unit. Industries falls in orange category will require certified report by officers, certified authorities and environmental auditors. GPCB officials need not to visit such industries.

Mrs. Patel expressed commitment to expand startup scheme statewide to provide assistance and guidance to young entrepreneurs. As per the scheme Rs. 5 lakh will be given to encourage young entrepreneurs, Rs. 10 lakh to nodal institute for raw material and Rs. 10,000 per month.

Finance Minister Mrs. Saurabhbhai Patel, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Mr. Arvind Agrawal, Industries Commissioner Mrs. Mamta Varma and others were present in the meeting.
