Pune, February 1, 2021: The Chief Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) aims to create one lakh micro and small scale industries in Maharashtra within five years, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar informed during the inauguration of the ‘My Business, My Right’ initiative under the CMEGP in Pune district on Monday.

“The CMEGP is expected to provide employment opportunities to a large number of people in the State. However, don’t start an industry just for the grant. Only honest beneficiaries will get benefits under the scheme,” said Pawar.

“The number of job seekers is enormous and currently, there are no jobs available. Hence, the unemployed should start businesses and employ others,” the NCP leader said.

Speaking about the scheme, Pawar said, “Only one person in a family can benefit from this scheme. It will give impetus to the rural economy. After taking a loan, it has to be repaid on time.”

“Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic. Therefore, the government has undertaken this ambitious scheme. The next State budget will make a substantial provision for this scheme. The best use of this scheme should be availed by Pune district in the State,” said Pawar.

‘No one will forget the war against COVID-19’

Lauding Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the State government’s proactive approach in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic across the State, Pawar said, “Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was constantly talking to district collectors across the State through video conferencing. He also interacted with the Prime Minister several times. Many leaders in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government set up the system taking great efforts.”

“Over the past year, there have been unprecedented disasters such as heavy rains, hurricanes, and COVID-19 pandemic. We will keep working even if the government suffers financial losses. We have worked thinking that people’s lives should be saved. No one will forget the struggle the COVID-19 warriors faced to protect humanity during the COVID-19 era,” Deputy CM said, thanking the COVID-19 warriors.

Pawar also felicitated COVID-19 warriors during the program. A mobile clinic van and cloud-based health kiosk service were launched and ‘N95’ face masks were distributed to Asha volunteers on the occasion.

Shirur MLA Ashok Pawar, Junnar MLA Atul Benke, Mayor Pournima Taware, Kiran Gujar, and group leader Sachin Satav were also present during the inauguration of the scheme.
