CNG Shortage Causes Chaos in Pune: Long Queues and Commute Woes

Pune, 20th May 2024: Pune is grappling with a major CNG shortage due to issues with the MNGL pipeline and Torrent Gas supply, leading to significant disruptions across the city and district. The shortage has resulted in ultra-long queues of rickshaws and cars at CNG stations, severely hampering the daily commute of citizens and causing widespread inconvenience.
Dhruv Ruparel from the Petrol Dealers Association voiced his concerns, stating, “MNGL and Torrent Gas have not provided any prior information regarding the activities or how they plan to tackle this issue. This is putting immense stress on manpower at the pumps and causing chaos.”
The shortage has not only affected commuters but also put additional pressure on CNG pump attendants, who are struggling to manage the surging demand and growing frustration among vehicle owners. The lack of timely communication from the gas suppliers has exacerbated the situation, leaving many in the dark about when the supply will return to normal.
