Navi Mumbai, 21st January 2025: Coldplay’s highly anticipated Music of the Spheres tour has brought the legendary band to India, with performances scheduled in Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The tour kicked off with two back-to-back shows at the DY Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18 and 19, with the final Mumbai concert set for today, January 21. Tickets for the event sold out within minutes of being released on BookMyShow, causing an intense demand surge that resulted in inflated resale prices. The spike in resale ticket prices prompted BookMyShow to take legal action over suspected black market sales. Despite the excitement surrounding the event, the Mumbai concerts have received mixed reactions, particularly on social media, where many fans expressed their dissatisfaction.

Platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) have been flooded with comments and videos from disappointed concertgoers. One user posted a video of the crowd, questioning, “What is this? The crowd is quieter than a library!” Another comparison noted, “The rock music tribute concerts at Hard Rock Cafe are louder than this.” One person humorously remarked, “Coldest Coldplay concert ever!” while another joked, “Crowd: we are at a ‘Concert.’ Coldplay: Am I in a ‘Satsang’?”

Other comments added to the playful critique, with one individual saying, “Heard someone actually requested Indian songs,” and another quipping, “Literally a very Cold play.”

However, not all feedback was negative. A user shared a different perspective, stating, “In my section, the crowd was great. Mumbai definitely showed up, and the energy was different depending on where you were.” Another supporter suggested that many concertgoers weren’t there just for Coldplay but to experience a large stadium concert, which is a rare occurrence in India. One fan added, “I was in standing, and everyone was singing along around me. It was a different vibe.”

Meanwhile, a woman addressed those unable to attend the concert, offering advice to ease the feelings of FOMO. She reminded others that what is shared online is often a curated highlight, urging them to focus on their personal journey and let go of the pressure to keep up with trends.

Sonu Nigam concert

Coldplay, featuring Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion, is preparing for its next performances in Ahmedabad, set for January 25 and 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. This marks their second visit to India, following their first tour in November 2016. Chris Martin is joined by his partner, actress Dakota Johnson, and the couple has been seen enjoying the sights of Mumbai, including visits to local temples.
