Pune, 20th October 2021: After the Maharashtra Government’s confusion over the opening of the colleges and educational institutes in the State, now, its students have decided to wait and watch the situation. Colleges in the city welcomed the empty benches on Wednesday.

Although the colleges and educational institutes were opened on Wednesday, students from various Pune colleges prefer to stay at home and continue with the online mode of education for sometime now.

Among major reasons cited by education experts, either the students are not completely vaccinated or have decided to join after Diwali break. Likewise, many colleges have continued with both the online and offline mode and thus students especially from Commerce and Arts stream preferred to online mode.

Vice-principal of HV Desai college Neeta Bokil said, “Students yet have not completed their vaccination. Similarly, we have many outstation students. The absentee is huge on the background of Diwali. We are going to conduct the vaccination drive in the college for the students.”

Another major reason is the availability of the hostel facility for outstation students. Pune being an educational hub, students throng to the city for education. But hostels have yet not opened and thus residence is a major problem for the students.
