Shivajinagar, 29th January 2024: During the inauguration ceremony of the Ashanagar water tank in Gokhalenagar on January 26, Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar allegedly used abusive language towards a municipal official. The incident occurred during a confrontation between the Congress leader and the police, leading to a case being registered against Dhangekar and other individuals at the Chatushringi police station.

Nandkishore Jagtap, the head of the water supply department at the Pune municipal corporation (PMC), lodged a complaint against MLA Dhangekar and his associates. The controversy unfolded on January 26, when Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was scheduled to inaugurate the water tank at the invitation of BJP MLA Siddharth Shirole. Both Congress and BJP wanted credit for the work. After learning about the presence of Congress leaders, Pawar skipped the ceremony.

As tensions escalated, Dhangekar reportedly engaged in a heated argument with the police when attempting to inaugurate the water tank. The situation took a severe turn when the MLA Dhangekar abused Jagtap. The incident was captured on video, subsequently going viral on social media platforms. Former Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, who is General Secretary of Maharashtra BJP, also shared it.

Today, the Municipal Engineers Union organized a protest, condemning Dhangekar’s actions. A formal complaint was then filed at Chatushringi police station, resulting in the registration of a case against the MLA Dhangekar and his associates for obstructing government work.
