Congress Workers Face Legal Action for Burning Effigy of PM Modi in Pune

Shivajinagar, 27th February 2024: Deccan police have registered a case against Congress workers for burning an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest organized by the Youth Congress at Congress Bhavan on Monday evening.

The protest was organized to address the recent demise of a farmer during the ongoing farmers’ agitation on the Delhi-Haryana border. In response to the incident, Congress workers gathered at Rani Jhansi Chowk in Jhansi on Jungli Maharaj Road on Monday evening to express their protest. During the demonstration, activists attempted to burn the effigy of Prime Minister Modi.

Senior Police Inspector Vipin Hasbanis, along with Sub-Inspector Mahesh Bhosle and Dattatray Sawant from Deccan Police Station, intervened at the scene and halted the activists. The individuals involved in the effigy burning were subsequently detained and taken to the Deccan Police Station for further investigation.

Deccan Police disclosed that a case has been filed against Congress activists Rishikesh alias Bunty Baba Shelke, Prathamesh Vikas Abnave, Ehsan Ahmed Khan, Muralidhar Siddharam Budhramas, and Rahul Duryodhan Shirsat in connection with the incident.
