Construction Material Valued at Rs 31 Lakh Stolen from Pune Metro Line 3 Sites
Pune, 27th December 2023: In a surprising turn of events, construction material including base jack, footplate, horizontal rod, and butterfly coupler, amounting to Rs 31 lakh, has been reported stolen from the Balewadi site of the Hinjewadi to Chhatrapati Shivaji Nagar metro line.
The incident occurred between November 18 and December 19, 2023, despite the stringent security measures implemented by Maha Metro. A case has been registered at the Chatushrungi police station.
Ritesh Balu Pradhan (25), security supervisor, lodged the complaint. Pradhan is tasked with overseeing the security of the construction material for Pune Metro Line 3 at PMR 14, Ganraj Chowk, Balewadi, to PMR 20 Khairewadi, Ganeshkhind Road.
The theft was found during routine checks conducted by engineers on the distributed construction material between November 18 and December 19, 2023. Upon realizing that the base jack, footplate, horizontal rod, and butterfly coupler worth Rs 31 lakh were missing, Pradhan reported the incident to the Chatushrungi police station.
Senior Police Inspector Balaji Pandhre of Chatushrungi police station said that a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen construction material.
