Controversy Erupts As Pune University Publishes Gautam Buddha’s Picture On Mahavir Jayanti In Calendar
Pune, 3rd April 2023: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has apologized for publishing a picture of Gautam Buddha instead of Mahavir Jain on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti on its calendar. The university has appointed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter and promised action against those responsible after the report is submitted.
The error was brought to light by Rishi Pardeshi of NCP, who criticized the university for such a mistake. The university has clarified that it was an unintentional mistake and that they deeply regret it.
The university assured that such mistakes will not happen in the future and expressed their respect towards all religions and beliefs. The university authorities have appealed to the public not to politicize the matter and to maintain harmony and peace.
