January 4, 2021: The indigenous corona vaccine “COVAXIN” trial will now be conducted on children above the age of 12. The Central Government has approved Bharat Biotech for this. COVAXIN is currently in the third round of the trial phase. In the previous round as well, it was used on some children above the age of 12 years and the vaccine was found to be completely safe.

The Central Government assured that the vaccination process shall commence soon. Currently, only adults will be vaccinated, but after this trial of COVAXIN, if the results are good, the vaccination of children in the future will also be possible. On 3 January, DCGI approved Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN and Serum Institute’s CoviShield for emergency use.

COVAXIN and CoviShield 100% Safe

DCGI said pharma companies have been asked to “complete the Phase 3 trials and submit reports so that a decision regarding the provision of a permanent license can be made.” DCGI stated that the 2 vaccines have common or minor side effects. These are mild fever, allergies, etc. however, both vaccines are 100% safe. Rumors like being impotent because of the vaccines are baseless.

It is possible that in the state where CoviShield consignment will be sent, COVAXIN would not be sent. This will help prevent confusion during the vaccination process. For this, a standard operating procedure (SOP) will be decided on in two to three days. Both the approved vaccines will take two doses, with the goal of providing vaccination to 30 crore people by July.
