Corona: Registration For Children’s Vaccination Will Start From January 1

New Delhi, 27th December 2021: Amidst the growing threat of Omicron, India has taken another step forward in the fight against Corona. Vaccination of children of 15-18 years is going to start from January 3 in the country.

RS Sharma, head of the CoWIN platform, said that the registration for the vaccination of children in the age group of 15-18 years will start from January 1. Aadhaar card will be required for this. If someone does not have an Aadhaar card or any other identity card then they can use student id card for registration.”

In view of the spurt in the cases of the new variant Omicron of Coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25th December announced three major decisions in the fight against Coronavirus disease (COVID19), including starting vaccination for 15 to 18-year-olds from January. Apart from this, making another big announcement, the PM had said that booster dose will start from January 10 for the elderly, health workers and frontline workers above 60 years of age.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister had said that so far 61 percent of the adult population in the country has been given both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 90 percent of the adult population has been given the first dose. The government believes that immunization of 15 to 18-year-olds is likely to help in normalization of education in schools and will reduce the anxiety of parents as well as school-going children.
