Corona Vaccination Will Begin Nationwide From January 16; Decision Taken After PM Modi’s High-Level Meeting

Pune, January 9, 2021: The central government stated today that the Covid-19 vaccination campaign in the country will start on January 16 and during this time, priority will be given to about three crore health workers and personnel working on the front. 

The decision was taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the circumstances of Covid-19. According to the official statement, after a detailed review, it was decided that the Covid-19 vaccination campaign would start from 16 January 2021 in view of the upcoming festivals Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu, etc.

According to this, after the health workers and the personnel working on the front, priority will be given to those above 50 years of age and those under 50 years of age who are already suffering from other diseases, which is about 27 crores. The government stated that the national regulator has provided emergency speedy approval to two vaccines (Covishield and Covaxin) which have been found to be capable of providing safety and immunity.

PM Modi today held a high-level meeting to review the status of corona in the country along with the preparations of the state and union territories for the Covid-19 vaccination. The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary, Health Secretary, and other senior officials.

The total number of infected people increased to 1,04,31,639 on Saturday after 18,222 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the country. After the recovery of 1,00,56,651 patients, the rate of recovery in the country increased to 96.41 percent. According to data from the National Health Ministry, 2,24,190 infected people are currently under treatment, which is 2.16% of the total infected people. As of eight o’clock in the morning, the number of infected people in the country reached 1,04,31,639. At the same time, after the death of 228 people due to infection in the last 24 hours, the number of dead people increased to 1,50,798. Infection mortality in the country is 1.45 percent.

In India, the number of corona infected citizens had crossed 20 lakh, 30 lakh, 40 lakh on 7 August, 23 August, and 5 September respectively. At the same time, the total number of cases of corona infection had crossed 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and one crore on 19 December.

According to the figures of the Ministry, 1,50,798 people have died due to the virus in the country so far, including 49,970 in Maharashtra, 12,134 in Karnataka, 12,208 in Tamil Nadu, 10,654 in Delhi, 9,902 in West Bengal, 8,469 in Uttar Pradesh, 7,127 in Andhra Pradesh. , 5,437 people from Punjab and 4,335 people from Gujarat.
