Coronavirus -2608 New COVID19 cases detected in Maharashtra today

Pune, May 22, 2020: Today 2608 new COVID19 cases were reported in Maharashtra taking the state tally of Coronavirus positive patients to 47,190. There were 60 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 40 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 14 in Pune, 2 in Solapur, 1 in Vasai-Virar, 1 in Satara, 1 in Thane and 1 in Nanded city. Out of the total deaths reported today, 42 deaths occurred in the last 24 hours and rest are from the last fortnight.
Out of the 60 deaths today, 41 were men and 19 women. 29 of them aged over 60 years, 24 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 7 were aged less than 40 years. 36 out of 60 patients (60%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 1577 in the state.
Out of 3,48,026 laboratory samples, 2,98,696 were negative and 47,190 have been tested positive for COVID-19 until today. As per the guidance from Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 2345 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 16,414 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 65.91 lakh population was done. Currently, 4,85,623 people are in home quarantine and 33,545 people are in institutional quarantine.
