CORONAVIRUS : FDA cancels licences of four chemist shops for overcharging, selling duplicate products
Pune, March 12, 2020 : Taking a strong stand against medical stores which are found selling duplicate products and overcharging for masks and hand sanitizers, which is being used to prevent spread of coronavirus, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cancelled licences of four chemist shops.
The action has been taken against Metro Medical and New Pooja Chemist in Kothrud and Om Chemist in Gokhale Nagar and Mahalaxmi Medical in Mahlunge. They were found selling substandard hand sanitizers and also sold masks at exorbitant prices.
Number of Corona positive persons reaches nine in Pune
The number of persons found positive with Coronavirus in Pune reached nine today. Their condition is stable, informed District Collector Naval Kishor Ram.
The ninth person had returned from USA on March 1. His test was done on Wednesday (March 11) and he was found positive.
All the patients are undergoing treatment and their condition is stable, informed Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar and Collector Ram.
Meanhwhile, the district administration officials have appealed people to contact them if any medical store/pharmacy store is over charging for masks, sanitizers, handwash items.
To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, these items are required but there are chances of these items being sold at a higher rate. If there is a complaint regarding the sale at higher rates then offices of legal metrology department should be contacted, said Deputy Controller of Pune Division, Seema Bais.
