Till yesterday night, there were 980 positive cases in Pune city, while Pimpri Chinchwad PCMC areas had 81 cases. Till now about 150 people have been cured and discharged from various hospitals. Active patients are undergoing treatment at 23 hospitals.

According to the Union Ministry of Health, India’s total number of Coronavirus positive cases has increased to 24,506 (including 18,668 active cases, 5063 cured/discharged/migrated and 775 deaths). 1429 new COVID19 cases and 57 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

394 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday in the state taking the state tally to 6817. Till yesterday, there were 18 COVID-related deaths in Maharastra. Out of these, 11 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 5 in Pune and 2 in Malegaon. Out of the 18 deaths, 12 were men and 6 women. 9 of them aged over 60 years, 6 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 3 were under 40 years of age. 12 out of 18 patients (67%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and heart disease. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 301 in the state.

The mortality rate in the state due to COVID-19 is 4.4% currently. On analysing 269 deaths in the state, mortality rate among patients below 50 years old is comparatively less. It is 0.64% in the age group 21-30 years and it rises with increasing age beyond this age group. It is highest (17.78%) in the age-group 61-70 years. This underpins the increased possibility of complications in patients above 50 years of age and with high-risk comorbidities.

Out of 1,02,189 laboratory samples, 94,485 were negative and 6817 have been tested positive for coronavirus. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 512 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 7702 surveillance squads worked yesterday across the state and surveillance of 28.88 lakh population was done.
