We are daily receiving complaints from employees of various IT and ITES companies. Keeping in view the Covid-19 pandemic Central Government, as well as State government, have issued an advisory to all the establishments that no employee shall be terminated from a job and the wages shouldn’t be reduced. But a lot of IT companies are flouting the directions of the Central as well as State government. We received complaints from employees of Teleperformance Bund Garden Pune that more than 100 employees are sacked. The company is not replying to the queries of these employees. Under lockdown, the employees are unable to appear for interviews and join any other company. Hence it has become extremely difficult for these employees to survive. According to employees, the HR person of their company sent an email, “I hope you and your families are all safe. Being safe should be the primary priority in this pandemic. COVID19 has impacted all of us in different ways and so has it impacted our clients and therefore our organisation as well. It has impacted the economic situation across the globe, and with signs of improvement of the pandemic being slow (or even worsening in some of the more developed countries), the recovery of the economies is expected to take long and could even lead to a recession.

Many clients have stopped sending any work to us as they could not sustain their businesses and thus asked us to discontinue services, many are uncertain of their future with demand depleting and hence have asked us to significantly reduce staffing, and the others are non-committal of the near future trends though we are doing everything and more to keep servicing them all and their end-customers.

We are trying everything possible and more to retain our business base — however, not everything is in our control and you can imagine all of this has meant that revenues of our organisation have significantly reduced and thus it cannot sustain the same costs and overheads.

Unfortunately, therefore we are commencing separation formalities with you. You have a notice period of 60 days and hence your last working day will be June 6, 2020. During this period, we will continue our efforts to find an alternative role within the organization that you could be offered. This notice letter will be sent through post also. You are required to report to duties if the lockdown opens during your notice period.”
