Coronavirus: Khadki sealed again for three days from today after the second patient detected

Khadki (Pune), April 17, 2020: From today Khadki Bazaar area in Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) will be sealed for three days after a person detected Coronavirus Positive COVID19 yesterday.

Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) CEO Pramod Kumar Singh told Punekarnews.in that, only medical and milk shops will remain open beside the petrol pump.

“After we learnt about the positive case yesterday, we quarantined the patient’s five members. Their samples are also being tested. As per rule, it was decided to seal the area in 3 km radius of the patient’s house. Accordingly, we have imposed complete shutdown in Khadki Bazaar area for three days ie Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

Khadki police station officials said that anybody violating the shutdown will be prosecuted for an offence under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code, which is punishable with at least three months of imprisonment.

The heavily crowded vegetable market in Khadki Bazaar has been temporarily shifted to the ground near the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on old Pune-Mumbai Highway. There are markings for people to stand and maintain social distancing.

According to Dr Bhagwan Pawar, the district health officer (DHO), there are 423 patients under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 45 under Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and 29 under Pune rural areas. Till now 45 people have died including 43 in PMC, and one each in PCMC and Pune rural (Baramati).

As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 297 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 5664 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of over 20.50 lakh population was done.

In Pune also many areas have been sealed in the central Peth areas from Mahrishinagar to RTO as well as in Yerwada, Dhanori, Viman Nagar, Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Sinhgad road among others.
