Coronavirus: Muslim Brothers Must Perform Roza Iftar, Taraweeh Recitation at Home during Ramadan

Mumbai, 18, 2020: It has been appealed through Minority Development Department of Maharashtra government that Muslim brothers should not gather in mosques or at any other public place, rather they should perform and arrange religious programmes like regular Namaz, Taraweeh recitation and Iftar in their houses during the coming Ramadan (Ramzan), which starts next week.

A lockdown has been announced in the state until May 3 to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. Religious programmes of all religions, prayers, etc. have been banned at public places during this period. Accordingly, the Ministry of Minority Affairs of the Central Government has advised not to gather for regular Namaz, Taraweeh and Iftar during the lockdown period. Accordingly, all Muslim brothers in the state have been appealed to.

During the lockdown period, the instructions for social distancing and isolation should also be followed strictly in the holy month of Ramadan to prevent Corona infection. In any case, no gathering should be there in mosques for regular Namaz, Taraweeh and Iftar. Do not gather on the roofs or terraces of houses or buildings for regular Namaz or Iftar. Regular Namaz or Iftar should not be performed on an open ground. It should be noted that it is forbidden to organize any social, religious or family event. It is urged that these instructions be followed strictly until further orders regarding lockdown are received.

All the Commissioners, District Collectors have been Informed

All the Commissioners, District Collectors, Police Commissioners and Superintendentd of Police have been informed about this through Minority Development Department. It has been informed that an appeal should be made through Muslim community religious leaders, local political leaders, social workers, organizations to Muslim brothers that they should be vigilant to prevent Corona and they should perform Namaz, Taraweeh or Roza Iftar programmes at home instead of in mosques. Public awareness also should be done in this regard.
