Coronavirus: No breath analyzer test for drunk driving in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pune, March 16, 2020: The Maharashtra traffic department has taken a decision to not conduct breath analyzer test for drunk driving, to prevent police personnel coming in close contact with people. This is being done in the backdrop of Coronavirus outbreak.

This decision will be implemented in all the police commissionerates in Maharashtra but not rural (district) areas.

To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad police have also banned tour and travel operators as well as private companies from organising group tours within or outside the country.

Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Shisve of Pune police and Pimpri-Chinchwad police Commissioner Sandeep Bishnoi has issued orders in this regard.

Prior permission of the police commissioner has to be taken before organising any such tour in case of emergency.

Police have also directed hotels, lodges, guest houses to furnish details of people who have a history of foreign travel.

In another preventive order to spread of Coronavirus, Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram today issued an order to close down Pubs, Live Orchestra, museums in the whole district till March 31.

The number of positive cases has reached 16 in Pune while a total of 39 persons have detected positive in the whole state. The government has already closed all schools, colleges, other educational institutes, swimming pools, auditoriums as well as people been appealed to avoid religious gatherings.

The district collector has also said that section 144 is not imposed in Pune district.

Provide facilities of food, TV sets, carrom boards at quarantine places

To identify persons who have been asked to be home quarantined, a stamp would be imprinted on their left hand to prevent them from coming to open places. Dubai, US and Saudi Arabia also included in the list of seven countries declared by the Union Government for quarantine.
