Coronavirus Positive cases reach 263 in Pune district, 27 dead till now

Pune, April 11, 2020: With the addition of 16 new cases, the total number of Coronavirus Positive patients has reached 263 in Pune district till 7 pm today, as per the information shared by the district health officer. Out of 263, a total of 222 are from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas, 29 are from PCMC and 12 from Pune rural areas. In Pune city, 26 persons have been cured and discharged while 12 patients have been discharged in PCMC areas.

A three-member Rapid Response Team under the leadership of Dr P K Sen (Additional Director General, Government of India) is in Pune reviewing the prevention and control measures of COVID-19. With Dr Sen, Dr Rohit Bansal (Physician) and Dr Saurabh Mitra (Anesthetist) are also part of this team. The team visited BJ Medical College, Naidu Hospital, District Hospital Aundh and YCM Hospital Pimpri-Chinchwad over the last two days. Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, DivisionalCommissioner discussed with this team today. The squad expressed satisfaction on the coordinated efforts of the administration and the health department.

According to Maharashtra health department, 187 new COVID-19 cases were reported today across Maharashtra state taking the state tally to 1761. There were 17 deaths in the state of COVID-19 patients. Out of the deaths from today, 12 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 2 in Pune, and 1 each in Satara, Dhule and Malegaon. Out of the 17 deaths today, 11 were men and 6 women. 6 of them aged over 60 years, 8 patients were from the age group 40 to 60 years and 3 were less than 40 years old. 16 out of these 17 patients (94%) had highrisk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and heart disease. These have taken the death toll in the state due to COVID-19 to 127.

Out of 36,771 laboratory samples, 34,094 were negative and 1761 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. 208 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. 38,800 people are in-home quarantine and 4964 people are in institutional quarantine.

As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are total 4641 surveillance squads deployed across the state and surveillance of over 17lakh population has been done.
