Pune: Five persons injured in fire at Hippie @ Heart in Balewadi
Pune, April 11, 2020: Four people were injured in a fire at a closed hotel near Dasara Chowk in Balewadi area of Pune. The incident took place around 8 pm today at Hippie @ Heart Café near Balewadi High Street.
According to the fire brigade, due to lockdown, the restaurant is closed. However, the workers were staying there. The injured workers were evacuated and rushed to a hospital for treatment before the fire brigade arrived. Officials suspect that the fire was caused due to cylinder explosion.
Senior Police Inspector Anil Shewale, in-charge of Chatushrungi police station, said, “Five workers have sustained burn injuries. They are undergoing treatment at Surya Hospital. Further investigation is going on.”
ACP (Khadki division) Laxman Borate added, “The workers were first taken to Jupiter Hospital from there they were taken to Surya Hospital in Pune. The condition of one of them is serious.”
Yesterday also there was fire due to LPG cylinder blasts at an illegal gas filling centre nearby which had gutted several small shops. Fire Brigade had rushed there on time and recovered about 30 cylinders.
