Cosmos Bank Cyber Heist Case: Pune Police Demand Custody Of Accused Arrested In UAE

Pune, 7th March 2021: The Pune police have demanded the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to hand over the custody of Sumer Shaikh (28), one of the key accused in the Cosmos Bank cyber attack case of 2018.
The accused had managed to make thousands of cash withdrawals and online transactions worth ₹94.4 crores with the help of card cloning and bank data stolen from the dark web.
Shaikh played a key role in planning the cyber attack and fund transactions. A red corner notice was issued against him by the Interpol and police from over 28 countries, have been on alert against him.
“He was arrested by UAE police, in a corruption case. Pune police also demanded the custody of Shaikh from the UAE”, said Dr. Shivaji Pawar, the assistant police commissioner, Pune police.
