CR Continue to be the Savior of Cancer Patients with quick transport of life saving Medicines

Mumbai, 7 July 2020: Central Railway in continuation with its unconventional way of transporting the most essential life saving drugs to the ill patients, has comforted more than 8 cancer patients across India by reaching medicines in quick time during this Covid pandemic time. Truly, Railways continue to be the savior of Cancer patients, by providing all possible help, now as Railways reinvented itself during covid times delivered the life saving medicines at the door step. In one such case they have taken medicine for Blood Cancer patient from Mumbai in four different modes of Rail Transport to deliver at Belgavi in Karnataka.
During this Covid times, many of the patients got stuck up at their homes and was in great need of the most essential medicines for treatment of cancer. Recently, two cancer patients at Belgavi required medicines urgently from Mumbai. The Parcel wing of Mumbai, which has the reputation of delivering the Blood Cancer medicine from Mumbai to Solapur within 24 hrs, chalked out a plan to deliver through various modes of rail transport as there is no direct train from Mumbai to Belgavi. The cancer medicines for two patients after booking of the parcel were carried first from CSMT to Pune by a Special Parcel train, from Pune to Satara by workmen special train by the Guard, in third stage transported from Satara to Miraj by Guard of a shramik special train and on fourth stage from Miraj to Belgavi in a Goods train by the Guard. The overall coordination for movement of this medicine was done by Mumbai Division Parcel Inspector. Finally the medicinal packs for two patients were handed over to the Station Manager of Belgavi station at 01.00 hrs midnight at Belgavi after three stages of trans-shipment. One medicine was for a Blood Cancer patient named  Prakash Mane, aged 69 years, his son Mr. Sridhar Mane, personally received the medicine after fulfilling the formalities from Station Manager at midnight said, “There are no words, in which I can describe the service that was rendered by Railways during these tough days, when my father badly needed this blood cancer medicine. I am thankful to Indian Railways and it should continue the same service and save more and more life, rendering such prompt and dedicated service”. Another patient at Belgavi was a breast cancer patient, 47 year old mother of serving Air Force personnel Mr. Capol Ravi. Air Force personnel was grateful to receive the medicine through rail in a quick time.
Many of the requests for the need of medicines are popped up from Twittter. One Mr. Sanjay Patro tweeted to @railminindia & @central_railway that his father in law is terminally ill and required emergency medicines at Jeypore, Koraput in Odisha. That medicine on booking was transported by 01019 Mumbai-Bhubaneshwar Special to Brahmapur. Further, the Chief Commercial Inspector, Parcel, Mumbai Division contacted Mr. Pradeep Senapati Chief Commercial Inspector, Khurda Road, East Coast Railway, and requested him to facilitate the delivery of the medicines at Jeypore. Receiving the medicine, Mr. Sanjay Patro was elated. These are just few instances, how Railways have reinvented themselves during this tough times of Covid.
