CREDAI Pune Metro initiative for celebration of National Safety Week at multiple construction sites in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pune, March 14, 2023: CREDAI Pune Metro celebrated the recently-concluded National Safety Week 2023 at multiple construction sites in Pune and neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad.

An event was organised by Panchashil at East Side Business Park in Kalyani Nagar. Additional Labour Commissioner Shailendra Pol, Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone 4 Shashikant Borate, Assistant Labour Commissioner Gajanan Shinde, CREDAI Pune Metro Managing Committee member Ashwin Trimal, Panchshil Group Chairman Atul Chordia, Project Manager Santosh Kolekar, Security in-charge Nitin Wankhede, Labour Welfare Committee Co-Convenors Milind Talathi, Parag Patil, Labour Welfare Committee member Kunal Banthia, CREDAI Pune Metro Director General Dr DK Abhyankar, Labour Welfare Officer Sameer Parkhi were present on the occasion.

Over 400 construction labourers participated in the program, in which various awards were distributed. The children of construction workers presented a play, narrating the importance of child rights.

Bank Accounts, which were opened by Kotak Mahindra Bank for the construction workers were distributed and so were the BOCW smart cards after registration. Shailendra Pol said that the safety of construction workers was an important subject.

“The government is always committed to see implementation of safety measures for construction workers. It also seems that the workers get needed benefits at the workplace. CESS, which is collected from real estate developers, is used for providing benefits. Real estate developers must see that there is a social audit of CESS and that more facilities are provided construction workers”

Parag Patil appealed to construction workers to avail benefits of the schemes and stressed that the Labour Welfare Committee has been striving hard to reach to the construction workers.

Atul Chordia said safety of construction workers was of paramount importance for the Panchshil Group and he was proud of the fact that the company delivered 50 to 60 lakh square feet without a single accident on the site.

Shashikant Borate also focused on the importance of safety during his address.

Ashwin Trimal also appealed to construction workers to focus on safety, which was a crucial factor in the entire construction industry. The program was moderated by Sanjay Hirawe.

Under the National Safety Week, CREDAI Pune Metro also celebrated another program at Yashada-Supreme in Dudulgaon in Pimpri-Chinchwad. 500 construction workers participated in the program. On the occasion, bank accounts were opened for construction workers by Airtel Payments Bank under a special initiative. On the first day itself, bank accounts of 30 workers were opened.

Senior Police Inspector Deepak Salunkhe, CREDAI Pune Vice Presidents Ranjit Naiknaware, Vinod Chandwani, CREDAI Pune Metro Director General Dr DK Abhyankar, Labour Welfare Committee Co-Convenor Parag Patil, Rohit Deshpande, Labour Welfare Officer Sameer Parkhi, Yashada Realty Chief Managing Director Vasant Kate, Managing Director Suryakant Jadhav, Vijay Kate and Airtel Payments Bank sales Vice President Bharatraj Kadlag were present on the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion Ranjit Naiknavare highlighted the importance of safety for construction workers. He also appealed to workers to complete the BOCW registration.

Dipak Salunkhe advised the construction workers to focus on their own safety and follow the safety majors properly.

The construction workers contribute to nation building, therefore their safety is important, said Vasant Kate.

Vinod Chandwani also stressed on the importance of safety saying such initiatives help spread awareness about safe operations at construction sites.

Other members of CREDAI Pune Metro also celebrated Safety Week in the interest of construction workers.
