Crescent FC set up semifinal clash against khadki United at 21st guru Tegh Bahadur gold cup football tournament
Pune, January 12, 2023: Kaustubh Deshmukh’s runaround display steered Crescent FC to a 3-2 win in sudden death over Eagle FC and a place in the semifinals against khadki United in the 21st guru Tegh Bahadur gold cup football tournament at the COEP ground in Shivajinagar here on Thursday.
Kaustubh Deshmukh gave no respite to Eagle FC just as the referee blew the whistle for the start of the match. On a pass from Omkar Galandethat cut through eagle defense like a hot knife through butter, Deshmukh fired in the opening goal in the 5th minute of the match. Umesh Padmule put his name on the scoresheet when he equalised for Eagle FC through a penalty in the 25th minute.
As the teams failed to break deadlock at the end of 60 minutes tiebreaker was forced. The scores remained 4-4 with Kaustubh Deshmukh, Rehan Sayyed,Tanish Gaikwad and Irfan Sayyed finding the target. Ayush Rajput, who took the first spot kick, had missed. For Eagle FC Vaibhav Maaske,Munikesh Gupta, Amol Wagaskar scored, while Pravin Bhujbal missed. In the ensuing sudden death Gautam Ubale, Sai Shindeand Arjun Pathare scored for Crescent FC. Ali Shaikh and Jeet Pardeshi netted the ball in for Eagle FC, but Yogiraj Sapkal missed.
