Pune, 26th June 2025: As lakhs of devotees walk the sacred path during the Waari – which started from Alandi and is headed towards Pandharpur, The Orchid Hotel Pune is taking a meaningful detour towards sustainability. In a remarkable green initiative, 43 dedicated team members from the hotel will participate in planting over 5,000 seed balls across the route from Saswad to Jejuri, aiming to restore the region’s ecological balance.

This eco-conscious endeavour comes at a time when the landscape is undergoing significant deforestation due to highway construction and urban expansion. In line with the hotel’s long-standing commitment to environmental conservation, the seed bomb activity is part of a broader mission to counteract the green loss with sustainable action.

“On the occasion of Palkhi Procession, our hotel will lead a green initiative by planting over 5,000 seed balls from Saswad to Jejuri as a step towards replenishing green cover lost due to infrastructure development. This initiative, aligned with Environment Month, is part of our CSR commitment and aims to foster sustainable practices within and beyond the organization,” said Ayon Bhattacharya, Vice President for West India of Kamat Hotels India.

This initiative is yet another step in The Orchid Hotel’s larger journey of ‘Responsible Luxury’, where hospitality meets sustainability. As pilgrims move forward in devotion, Kamat Hotels India moves forward in purpose — towards a greener, healthier Maharashtra
