Customs Department Action At Pune Airport; Gold Worth Crores Seized In Past One Year

Pune, 6th October 2022: Gold smuggling has increased at Pune Airport in the past year. More than Rs two crores of gold has been seized at the Pune Airport in the past year by the Customs Department.

So far this year, 2,991 grams of gold worth Rs 1,53,54,817 has been seized from international flights. While 1,510 grams of gold worth Rs 75,17,908 has been seized by the Customs Department from domestic flights in the country.

A total of Rs 2,28,72,725 worth of gold has been seized by the Customs Department in the last year. Air traffic from Pune to Dubai as well as other cities in the country has also increased over the years. As gold is cheap in these countries, people bring gold from there.
