Customs Dept Seize 3.3 kg Hydroponic Weed Worth Rs 1.17 Crore at Pune Airport

Pune, 2nd May 2026: The Air Intelligence Unit of Pune Customs on Thursday arrested two passengers and seized over 3.3 kg of hydroponic cannabis, valued at around Rs 1.17 crore in the illicit market, officials said.

The accused, both from Kerala, had arrived at Pune airport from Bangkok on an Air India Express flight (IX-241). Acting on suspicion, customs officials intercepted them and conducted a detailed check of their baggage.

During the search, officials recovered 3,348 grams of high-grade hydroponic weed concealed in six transparent vacuum-sealed packets, wrapped in black material, from the check-in luggage of one of the passengers. Authorities said the second individual was accompanying him to facilitate smooth movement through the airport.

The contraband was seized and both individuals were arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended recipients of the consignment.
