Cyber Criminal Arrested: Police Nabs Offender, Seizes Electronics

Dhanbad, April 20, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Dhanbad police apprehended Vikram Kumar Das, a notorious cyber criminal, on Friday. Das, involved in a string of cyber frauds impersonating bank officials or courier service personnel, was arrested at his residence in Bagsuma Govindpur. The police confiscated five smartphones from various companies along with a laptop, six SIM cards, an ATM card, a bank passbook, and 15,000 rupees in cash from his possession.

Cyber DSP Sanjeev Kumar revealed that Das had been active in cyber crime for two years, with cases registered at the Cyber Police Station in Dhanbad. Das would deceive victims by posing as bank officials, electricity department personnel, or courier service staff, spreading false information about arrests or accidents.

Das’s arrest is linked to these cases, with investigations ongoing. Cyber Police Station in-charge Pramod Pandey, Sub-Inspector Gaurav Kumar, and Jay Narayan Pandit were part of the raiding team.

The arrest marks a significant victory in the fight against cyber crime in the region. Authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activities promptly.
