Pune, 21 August 2021: Symbiosis Centre for International Education and Symbiosis Center for Emotional Wellbeing organized an interactive Workshop for Afghan Students on “Dealing with Distress: How to Navigate Grief”.

The workshop was conducted virtually on Friday, 20th August 2021 at 3 pm.

 

It was an interactive session where students shared their thoughts and experiences on the current situation in their country and their feelings.

 

Dr. Girija Mahale, Head, Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Well-being and Ms. Tanmayee Khambete conducted the workshop and gave important tips to the students on how to manage their feelings of distress.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. S. B, Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis said that “we can understand the pain and difficulties the Afghan students are facing at this point of time but don’t forget that “Hope” keeps us optimistic throughout life”.

 

The aim behind arranging such sessions was to offer psychological and emotional guidance to Afghan students studying in India. It was not a discussion on political issues but a small contribution on how they could work on their emotional and psychological health as their country goes through turbulent times, Dr. Mujumdar added further.

 

Speaking at the workshop Dr. Girija Mahale, Head, Symbiosis Centre for Emotional Well-being said that, today the pandemic situation all over the world had created a constant feeling of uncertainty in the minds of people. For Afghan students, the current situation at their native place was made even more difficult, so this was our duty to support them as best we could.

 

While addressing the Afghan students at the workshop, Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) said that Symbiosis would always be there to support them.

 

Amruta Ruikar, Head, International Promotions and Admission, mentioned the “Asia Foundation” through which Symbiosis would be giving admission to 100 Afghan women students for a Diploma in Management Studies.

Dr. Anita Patankar, Dy. Director of, Symbiosis Centre for International Education was the anchor of the programme.
