Decision On Lockdown Relaxation In Pune And Pimpri-Chinchwad After Discussion With CM: Ajit Pawar

Pune, 24 July 2021: Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today directed to keep the treatment system equipped and also to continue the tests and surveys, considering the possible third wave of Covid. He also clarified today that a decision will be taken at the state government level to give some leeway in the restrictions in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation areas.

A review meeting on Covid situation and measures in the district was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in the hall of Council Hall.

Pawar said that considering the possible third wave of Covid, the health system in rural areas including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad should be equipped. He also directed that the treatment facilities including ventilators, oxygen systems and necessary trained manpower should be kept under constant scrutiny, as well as the speedy survey and sampling campaign being carried out in rural areas.

Stating that the pace of vaccination in Pune district is satisfactory, Pawar said, “It is very satisfying as Pune district has crossed the milestone of 55 lakh in COVID vaccination. The state government has been following up with the central government for the availability of vaccines and there has been a continuous effort to increase the number of vaccines.”

Mayor Muralidhar Mohol, MLA Adv. Ashok Pawar, MLA Sharad Ranpise, MLA Rahul Kul, MLA Sunil Tingre, MLA Chetan Tupe, MLA Siddharth Shirole, Dr. Subhash Salunkhe also made some suggestions.

Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao gave a presentation on the Covid positivity rate in the district this week as compared to the previous week, the measures being implemented by the administration in the district, sample testing of citizens, infected patients, hospital management, vaccination status, Mucormycosis patient rate, mortality rate, oxygen plant status.

Additional Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation Ravindra Binwade and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil informed about the measures being taken by the Corporation.

Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh and ZP Chief Executive Officer Ayush Prasad informed about the Covid patient condition and remedies in rural areas.
