Demographic, house survey of 11 merged villages in Pune Municipal Corporation
Pune: The city-based Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) is likely to conduct the demographic, socioeconomic and house survey of 11villages merged in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. The civic body is getting the survey done at a cost of Rs 19.99 lakhs to draft the development plan for these newly added areas.
Officials said that the survey will help in knowing the housing patterns, population density and social background of existing population residing in the merged villages. The proposal to appoint GIPE to conduct the survey has been tabled before the standing committee.
These eleven villages were added to PMC limits in 2017. The population of these villages is about three lakhs while they are spread over 80 sq km.
