Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Pleads Puneites To Take ‘Extra-Precaution’ Against New COVID Strain Found In Britain

Pune, December 26, 2020: In the wake of a new and more virulent strain of Coronavirus (COVID-19) found in Britain, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed his concerns and pleaded Puneites to take special care such as maintaining social distancing, wearing masks, and taking an extra step in a meeting today.

Pawar also directed the authorities to make necessary at the administration level and to be prepared for the upcoming challenges. “All efforts are needed to control the coronavirus. You have to be more careful about the background of the new virus. Every step needs to be planned accordingly”, said Pawar in a meeting with senior officials at Council Hall today.

He further directed the administrative bodies to maintain the availability of essential facilities and ensure that all patients get health care in time. Pawar also reviewed the Coronavirus Vaccine preparations.

Advisor to the Health Department Dr Subhash Salunke said, “The administration is taking extra precautions in the wake of the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in Britain and will have to be extremely vigilant for the next few days.”

Meanwhile, Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh informed about hospital management, patient bill management, post-COVID counseling, weekly sample testing laboratory details, positivity rates, and decline in mortality rate.

Dr Kunal Khemnar, Additional Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) informed about the situation and measures taken against the COVID-19 infection under PMC areas.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar was also present in the meeting and informed about the measures being taken for the prevention of corona.

The meeting was also attended by Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Chetan Tupe, MLA Annasaheb Bansode along with various office bearers, Pimpri- Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, District Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishnaprakash, PMRDA Commissioner Suhas Divase, Sassoon hospital dean Dr Muralidhar Tambe, and many other officials were present.
