Pune, 15th May 2025: Following the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir and the ensuing conflict between India and Pakistan, Turkey’s support for Pakistan has sparked strong reactions in India. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has asserted that Turkey should be boycotted and banned in India, describing such actions as true signs of patriotism.

Shinde expressed his views at a meeting of municipal commissioners and chief officers held at Yashada, Pune. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present on the occasion. The ongoing nationwide trend of “Boycott Turkey” had its origins in Pune’s Market Yard, where traders first initiated a ban on Turkish apples.

Shinde lauded the traders who took this stand and extended his congratulations. He also addressed the recent threats received by a trader from Pakistan, assuring that the police force is capable of protecting such patriotic citizens and that no harm will come to them.

Apart from this, a workshop focusing on urban development is being organized at Yashada. Key officials, including the Chief Minister, municipal commissioners, and municipal chairpersons, will participate. The workshop will emphasize issues such as city problems, policy implementation, new regulations, development plans, and urban growth strategies. State officials will provide district and city-specific insights, aiming to facilitate effective communication and guidance for the welfare of citizens.

Regarding the local body elections, Shinde spoke about the Supreme Court’s directive, stating, “The Supreme Court has issued orders, and the Election Commission is working on them. We have fought and won Lok Sabha and Assembly elections under the Maha Yuti alliance with a significant margin. We will contest the local body elections as Maha Yuti as well.”

Shinde also saluted the bravery of the Indian armed forces in the wake of Operation Sindoor’s success. To honor the Indian Army and show solidarity, a ‘Tiranga Rally’ has been organized across the state. This rally aims to praise the armed forces and express appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership for the country.
