DGCA Visit: Pune Airport Steps Up Measures to Tackle Fog-Related Flight Delays

Viman Nagar, 15th December 2025: An official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) visited Pune Airport to review its preparedness amid fog-related flight disruptions being reported at several airports in northern India. The visit was carried out as a preventive oversight exercise to assess operational readiness and coordination at the airport.
During the inspection, the DGCA official reviewed key passenger touchpoints, including terminal facilities, flight information systems, airline counters and ground handling operations, to evaluate preparedness for possible fog-induced disruptions.
A coordination meeting was also held with representatives of Pune Airport, CISF, all operating airlines and ground handling agencies. The DGCA emphasised the need for strong passenger communication mechanisms and instructed airlines to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information related to flight delays or cancellations, with the aim of reducing inconvenience to travellers.
Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said the airport has taken proactive steps to ensure smooth operations during adverse weather conditions. “Pune Airport has already conducted a comprehensive fog preparedness mock drill to assess our response under low-visibility scenarios. Our focus remains on passenger safety, seamless coordination among all stakeholders and timely communication,” Dhoke said.
As part of regulatory compliance, Pune Airport conducted a full-scale fog preparedness mock drill on December 13, 2025, to test operational readiness, inter-agency coordination and response effectiveness in simulated low-visibility conditions.
Airport authorities said Pune Airport continues to work closely with the DGCA, CISF, airlines and ground handling agencies to maintain high standards of safety, operational efficiency and passenger facilitation during challenging weather conditions.
