Pune, December 9: “Despite being not related Dharmendra has always treated me like a son and has showered his love on me. He’s humble towards everyone and that can be seen through his personality. He may be a ’He-man’ on screen but in real life he’s ‘Good Human Being’ and during our 30-year relationship, I have realized how much impact a person can create on our lives,” said a well-known architect from Pune, Mahesh Nampurkar while discussing about Actor Dharmendra. He was talking during a program called ‘Songs, Chats, Heartwarming Stories’ organized by M.N Events on the occasion of the 87th birthday celebration of the actor held at SM Joshi Auditorium at Navi Peth.

As Nampurkar directly called Dharmendra during the chat, the Punekars were able to wish him on his birthday. Expressing his gratitude, Dharmendra said he would visit Pune soon. Along with Dharmendra, the program also marked the birthday of well-known actress Sharmila Tagore. Uma Nampurkar was also present on the occasion.

Stating that the actor always encourages people who work with integrity in any field, Nampurkar said, “Dharmendra gave me my first professional fee when I started as an architect. He is a genuine person and has backed everyone who has come to him. Today, famous actors from the film industry come to meet him to seek his blessings as Dharmendra still inspires them. He always tells them to carry on their work without over-thinking and with honesty.”

When asked what was discussed during his recent meeting with the actor, Nampurkar said, “Dharmendra told me ‘times have changed’ and when I asked him how, he said that earlier, when people met each other, we could tell many things from their facial expressions and there was warmth in relationships. But now people connect through phones and photos due to which a gap has arisen. There are no emotions now and a sort of boredom can be experienced in people.”

Along with discussions, Dharmendra’s famous evergreen songs like ‘Mai Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana’, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, ‘Gar Tum Bhula Na Doge’, ‘Ab Ke Sajan Sawan Mein’ were performed by Vocalists Makarand Patankar, Vivek Pandey and Preeti Pethkar who were accompanied by Aman Sayed (Key board), Asif Inamdar (Octopad) and Govind Kudalkar (Tabla, Dholki). Siddharth moderated the program.
