Differently abled children learn steps of Kathak

Pune, April 26, 2019 : Differently abled children from Bal Kalyan Sanstha got a chance to learn about Indian Classical Dance, not only that, they also learned and enjoyed few steps of Kathak.

Shastriya Nritya Sanvardhan Sanstha, a group of classical dancers from Pune is undertaking a 10-day mega event called ‘Dance Season’ at different locations in Pune. As a part of this event marking the World Dance Day, a dance and drama workshop named ‘Together In Sync’ was conducted by Dancer Shilpa Datar.

The inauguration of the workshop was done at the hands of veteran Kathak Dancer Maneesha Sathe. Aparna Panse, Director, Bal Kalyan Sanstha, Dattatray Bhave and Geetaram Darade, both Music Teachers were present among the dignitaries.

In the workshop, the differently abled students were introduced to Kathak. Children also watched some dance related videos and enjoyed different theatre games and interactive sessions.

Shilpa Datar said, ‘‘Our purpose is to help these children to gain confidence and express their creativity. Dance serves as a very good medium for that. Also, they will get joy above all. The initiative will be conducted all year round at Bal Kalyan Sanstha which will include workshops on different dance forms.’’
