Disturbing Child Marriage and Rape Case in Pune: Husband and In-laws Accused

Aundh, 15th November 2023: The Chatushringi Police Station in Pune has registered a case against a husband, mother-in-law, father, and mother in connection with a case of child marriage and sexual abuse. The victim, an eighteen-year-old girl, was married at the age of 17.

The husband, despite being aware of her minor status, allegedly engaged in intercourse, resulting in her pregnancy.

The accused individuals face charges under various sections, including rape, violations of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and contravention of the Child Marriage Prevention Act.

The victim, after completing nine months of pregnancy, was admitted to the Aundh district hospital, where she gave birth. The police were alerted when age verification revealed her status as a minor. Consequently, the case has been officially registered.
