Divisional Commissioner will investigate case of illegal sand excavation of Godavari river on the border of Jalna-Beed district- Chandrakant Patil

Mumbai,20.June.19: “Divisional Commissioner will investigate the case of illegal sand excavation in Godavari river (Ambad and Ghansangvi talukas) and will search guilty contractors who deceive the government by crossing the limit of tender” informed Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil.

He was replying a question put up by member Vinayak Nete, about illegal sand UPSA from Godavari river on the boundary of Jalna and Beed district.

Mr. Patil further said that fliying squad has been established on sub-division and taluka levelto stop the illegal sand excavation, traffic and illegal mining of minerals in Jalna and Beed districts. This squad collect the 4.86 lakhs through penalty collected by taking action against 325 illegal sand excavation and illegal traffic in Beed district in 2018-19. Cases have been registered against 17 culprits. While in Jalna district, the squad 87.34 lakhs collected through penlty from 194 cases of illegal sand excavation and illegal traffic. Cases have been registered against 103 culprits, in 2018-19.

District level Vigilance Committee meetings under the chairmanship of District Collector, Jalna, have been informed to the Superintendent of Police, Jalna and Sub-Regional Transport Officer, Jalna, for the illegal mining of minor minerals in the district and effective control for illegal traffic. According to the police administration, in the year 2018-19 years, 7,222 brass sand was seized in one 125 cases and 1750 brass sand was seized in 19 cases in May, 2019.

Strict action is being taken against illegal sand stolen in the state. Action and remedies policies would be decided in a meeting with Mining Corporation which would be organized soon, informed Mr. Patil
