Doctor From Pune Arrested By NIA In Maharashtra ISIS Module Case

Pune 27th July 2023:The National Investigation Agency has arrested one more person from Pune’s Kondhwa in connection with ISIS Maharashtra module case. The accused identified as Dr. Adnanali Sarkar (43) was arrested from his residence in Kondhwa, Pune by the central agency on Thursday. The NIA also conducted raids at his location and seized some incriminating material from his possession. He worked with Noble hospital Pune.

 

“Dr. Adnanali Sarkar (43) was arrested following raids from Kondhwa, Pune. The NIA seized several incriminating materials, such as electronic gadgets and several documents related to ISIS, during searches at Sarkar’s Kondhwa house. The material exposed the accused’s allegiance with the ISIS and his role in promoting the outfit’s violent agenda by motivating and recruiting vulnerable youth” NIA said in a statement.

 

The arrested accused was working as a doctor at city’s renowned hospital. He had hatched a conspiracy to further ISIS terrorist activities, known by different names such as Islamic State (IS)/Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL)/Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)/Daish/ Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP)/ISIS Wilayat Khorasan/Islamic State of Iraq and the Sham Khorasan (ISIS-K), NIA stated.

 

The NIA teams have already arrested four accused in this case. The four accused identified as Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai, Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh alias Abu Nusaiba from Pune, and Sharjeel Shaikh and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala from Thane were arrested by the central agency during an extensive search conducted on July 3 in Mumbai, Thane and Pune. A case in this regard was registered on June 28.
