Pune, 3rd January 2023: The Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association (PMDTA) has announced an initiative called ‘Doubles Dream of India’ to provide Indian doubles tennis players with the necessary support to help them win their matches. Under the initiative, players ranked in the top 200 in the ATP Doubles Rankings will be provided with a support system, including travelling coaches and physiotherapists.

While most tennis players travel to tournaments with their own money and often have no coaches travelling with them, players selected under this initiative will have a coach and a physiotherapist with them during all matches. The PMDTA has roped in tennis player Rohan Bopanna as a mentor for the initiative. Currently, 10 players are benefiting from this initiative.

The program started as a pilot project in April 2022 and focused on the ATP Challenger circuit. Going forward into 2023, it will support men’s doubles players and will start with women’s doubles players as well. The program will also help players during the upcoming Asian Games.
