Dr. Parag Sancheti gets elected as the President of APAS

Pune, 02 September: Dr. Parag Sancheti, a renowned Knee Surgeon and Joint Replacement expert, took over as the President of the ‘Asia-Pacific Arthroplasty Society’ (APAS) recently. He will serve as the President of the society for next 2 years.

APAS is a Society of Joint Replacement Surgeons from the Asia Pacific region and currently has 750 members from this region. Growing steadily from its founding days in 1997, APAS has come a long way in spreading knowledge of Joint Replacement Surgery not only in India but also in the Asia Pacific region.The ongoing vision in APAS is to deliver meetings that introduce debate and reflect on current issues in joint replacement that orthopaedic surgeons meet every day in their current practice and also to share topics that one may need to broaden the scope of their practice into the future.

Dr. Sancheti was elected as the President during the 17th annual meeting of the society recently held at Penang, Malaysia in presence of Dato Seri Dr. Hilmi bin Hj Yahya, Health Minister of Malaysia. He took over from Dr. Rami Sorial who is from Sydney, Australia. Dr. Parag Sancheti will work to promote the upgradation of skills and expertise of Surgeons of this region through Overseas Fellowships, Workshops and Continuing Medical Education Programs. This is a big honour for India as well as a big opportunity for showcasing the world the expertise of Indian Surgeons in the Field of Joint Replacement Surgery.

The 18th Annual Meeting of APAS will be held in India next year.
