DR RAGHUNATH MASHELKAR INAUGURATES UDAY GUJAR FOUNDATION’S SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTER AT SHIRWAL

Shirwal:  Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, eminent scientist and recipient of Padma Vibhusan recently inaugurated Uday Gujar Foundation’s “Skill Development Center” at Wing Village, Shirwal located in the district of Satara. Directors of Uday Gujar Foundation, Mr Uday Gujar, Ms Urmila Gujar, Mr Purab Gujar, Ms Purva Gujar and Mr R Vasudevan, who is also the Chairman, Vascon Engineers Ltd were present along with Guests of Honor, Mr Mahesh Kale -renowned classical singer, Ms Chetna Sinha- Founder & Chairperson, Mann Desi Mahila Bank, Mr Shankarrao Gadhave- a prominent and respected teacher and Dr Prasanna Deshmukh -Principal, Anantrao Thopte College, Bhor.  Apart from the above dignitaries, representatives from various NGOs and students of schools and colleges from the nearby locality were also present.

The skill development center is spread across 5 acres of land and shall be imparting training to students in Tally ERP9 with GST, Spoken English and communication, travel and tourism, driving plus general assistant and career counselling to begin with. The center also offers residential training to girl students and has set up a hostel within the premises that can accommodate 100 girls. The center is being run on a no profit motto and for offering education loan facility to needy students, the center has tied up with Mann Desi Mahila Bank.

 

Emphasising on the need and importance of education, Dr Raghunath Mashelkar said, “Children needs to have high aspiration and should be totally focussed in whatever they are doing. He added that there is no upper limit as far as climbing the ladder of excellence is concerned and there is always a need to think different. He concluded by saying that one should never feel disheartened if the door of opportunity does not open, on the contrary, one should be looking and seeking for multiple opportunities for attaining success in life”.

 

Mr Uday Gujar, Founder Director, Uday Gujar Foundation said, Children from the rural areas were finding it difficult to get jobs in cities after completing their education as they lacked basic communication and other skills that were needed. Keeping that in mind, this center has been started to impart basic skills that will enable the children to get jobs and earn their livelihood. He added that especially parents of girl child were reluctant to send their child to cities for further training for the fear of their safety and this initiative with hostel facility for girls has tried to address the issue in a small way. He felt that more and more children from Wing and neighbouring villages will be benefitted by this center and thanked all those who supported his vision.

 

Speaking on the side-lines of the event, Mr R Vasudevan, Chairman, Vascon Engineers Ltd and Director of Uday Gujar Foundation said that he was pleased to be part of the foundation since its inception and he will continue to support initiatives that will bring change to the life of needy and students, especially the girl child.

 

Mr Mahesh Kale, Ms Chetna Sinha, Mr Shankarrao Gadhave, Dr Prasanna Deshmukh , Mr Purab Gujar and Ms Purva Gujar addressed the gathering and inspired the students with their valuable insights on the approach one needs to adopt and follow to achieve success in life.
