Dr. Vilas Adhav Stresses Questioning for Scientific Breakthroughs at SPPU Workshop

Pune, 31st December 2023: In collaboration with Arvind Telang College, Nigdi, the Savitribai Phule Pune University Lifelong Studies and Extension Department, and Camp Education Society organized a one-day workshop on Research Methodology. Esteemed scholars from various departments attended the event.

The workshop was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. Pradeep Apte, Professor at Fergusson College and Gokhale Economics Department, also the Director of Lifelong Learning and Extension Department, along with Dr. Vilas Adhav, Professor and Head of the Economics Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Dr. Pradeep Apte delivered a simplified presentation on the essence of research. Reflecting on research in Geography and Economics, he emphasized that the journey of knowledge is synonymous with research. According to him, this journey unfolds gradually, evolving into a scientific pursuit. Dr. Apte underscored the importance of curiosity and talent in the research process.

Following this, Dr. Vilas Adhav shared his insights, highlighting the significance of consistency and questioning in research. He stressed that many mysteries can only be unraveled through thoughtful questioning.

In the second session, Prof. Dr. Kiran Randive, Department of Botany at Annasaheb Magar College, Hadapsar, provided guidance on scientific research methods and publication. He emphasized the need for researchers to be consistent, persistent, and determined. Prof. Randive asserted that research, whether big or small, should be conducted in unexplored areas. He encouraged research that contributes to society, students, the country, and the global community. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of starting research with a fundamental question of “why.”

The workshop, skillfully organized by the college’s Principal, Dr. Prakash Patil, received commendation. Prof. Dr. Sangeeta Salve provided valuable guidance, and the workshop was efficiently conducted by Prof. Manisha Sonawane. The vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Ganesh Bhame. Prof. Vanita Lingayat, Vishal Wankhede, and all professors and students actively participated in organizing the program.
