DRDO Recruitment 2026: JRF and Engineer Posts Announced at VRDE, Stipend Rs 37,000
Ahilyanagar, 9th April 2026: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced recruitment for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions at its premier laboratory, the Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), located in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra. The recruitment drive offers engineering graduates and postgraduates an opportunity to work with one of India’s leading defence research organisations.
According to the official notification, interviews for the positions will be conducted in May 2026. Candidates applying for the Mechanical Engineering posts will be interviewed on May 4, while interviews for the Electrical Engineering post will take place on May 6.
On the day of the interview, candidates will also have to appear for a written examination. Document verification will be conducted from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, after which the interview process will begin at 11:30 AM.
The recruitment will initially be for a period of two years, which may be extended further based on the candidate’s performance and organisational requirements.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a BE/BTech or ME/MTech degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised university or institution with first division. Applicants with a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible to apply. However, candidates holding an ME or MTech degree may apply even without a GATE score.
Age Limit
The maximum age limit is 28 years as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation will be provided as per government norms, including three years for OBC candidates and five years for SC and ST candidates.
Selection Process
The selection process will consist of a written examination, followed by an interview and document verification.
Stipend
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 37,000 along with applicable allowances.
