Drunk Youth Creates Public Nuisance In Pune; Obscene Gestures Caught On Viral Video; Police Launch Investigation

Pune, 08 March 2025: In a shocking incident on International Women’s Day, a drunk youth in Pune’s Shastrinagar Chowk engaged in obscene behavior on the street, raising fresh concerns about women’s safety. The man, who was traveling in a BMW with his friend, stopped his car in the middle of the road and urinated in front of women standing nearby. The video of the incident is going viral and the incident has sparked outrage among Pune residents.
According to eyewitnesses, the youth was speeding towards Wagholi when he suddenly halted his BMW at Shastrinagar Chowk. Completely intoxicated and showing no sense of shame, he got out of the car, unzipped his pants, and urinated. Bystanders were left shocked, with some attempting to intervene, but the youth ignored them.
His companion, who was also heavily intoxicated, was reportedly part of the reckless behavior. Driving under the influence at high speeds posed a serious accident risk. Despite citizens’ attempts to stop them, the duo sped away in their luxury car after making obscene gestures to the man recording the video. Some locals managed to record the incident on their mobile phones and immediately informed the police.
Police have begun an investigation and are tracking the BMW’s registration number using CCTV footage from the area. Officials believe this will help identify the suspects quickly.
Outraged citizens, particularly women, have condemned the incident. Many have pointed out that such cases are becoming increasingly frequent in Pune, yet immediate and strict action from authorities remains lacking.
A complaint has been filed at the Yerwada Police Station, and police officials have assured strict action. “We are analyzing CCTV footage to identify the accused, and they will face legal consequences. Obscene acts in public places will not be tolerated,” a police spokesperson said.
Following this incident, citizens have demanded stricter action against drunk driving and stricter regulations to prevent such occurrences. Many have called for increased police patrolling in public areas, especially at night.
The police have urged residents to report any inappropriate or unlawful behavior immediately, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential in tackling such offenses and ensuring public safety.
