Crackdown On Adulterated Paneer Factory In Pune; FDA Seizes Over Ra 11.5 Lakh Worth Of Goods

Manjari Khurd, 8th March 2025: In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Pune Police raided a factory producing adulterated paneer in Maniknagar, Manjari Khurd. Acting on a tip-off, Unit 6 police, led by Inspector Wahid Pathan, coordinated with the FDA to investigate the illegal operation inside a warehouse on a farm.

During the raid, officials discovered 1,400 kg of adulterated paneer, 400 kg of GMS powder, 1,800 kg of SMP powder, and 718 liters of palm oil, amounting to a total seizure worth ₹11,56,690. Samples of the adulterated paneer were collected for testing, while the remaining stock was destroyed on-site. The FDA has taken further legal action, and investigations are underway.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant while purchasing food products and report any suspicious activities related to food adulteration to the FDA.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 2) Rajendra Mulik. The team comprised officers from Crime Branch Unit 6, including Assistant Police Inspector Madan Kamble, Sub-Inspector Ramkrishna Dalvi, and constables Ramesh Memane, Nitin Mundhe, Kanifnath Karkhele, Sachin Pawar, Ganesh Dongre, Balasaheb Tanpure, and Suhas Tambe.

From the FDA, the operation was supervised by Joint Commissioner (Vigilance) Dr. Rahul Khade, along with Assistant Commissioner (Food) Narayan Sarkate and Food Safety Officers Balaji Shinde, Asmita Gaikwad, Supriya Jagtap, and LW Salve.
