DY Patil College of Engineering students win first prize at Baja SAE India 2020

Pimpri, January 30, 2020: The DY Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi, team predators won first prize at Baja SAE India 2020 national competition held at Pritampur, Madhya Pradesh, from 22nd to 26th January. The event was organized by the Mahindra sponsored Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Last year the team was in second place but this time with the guidance of alumni and professors they became the overall winners. The vehicle made by the students bagged the first prize in 5 different categories as acceleration, speed, durability and endurance.

The brief of the event was given in a press conference organized by the College today. Col SK Joshi, Director of ‘DY Patil Education Complex Akurdi’, Principal Dr Vijay Wadhai, Vice Principal Dr P Malathi, Head of the Department, Dr Vinay Kulkarni, Faculty Coordinator Prof. Sunil Patil were present for the press conference.

Principal Dr Wadhai explained how this activity benefits all students for placement, for providing quality education to all students as well as for the overall development of the students.

Col Joshi said, “The success achieved by the students of ‘DY Patil College of Engineering Akurdi’ in the national level competition of Baja is certainly commendable. Our students are the first prize winners among the eminent 120 engineering colleges across the country.”

Students from Production and E&T also participated in the Team Predators with the mechanical department of the college. Sanket Raut (Captain), Pranav Khatekar (Driver Manager), Apurva Mahind, Sourav Ingle, Tejas Dhakate, Vishakha Kotkar, Rigveda Bopardikar, Anshul Gupta, Srikanth Nakhate, Kevin Bhosle, Vipul Jadhav, Prithviraj Shinde, Ali Abu Farjand , Pratik Birajdar, Vedanta Kulkarni, Mrinal Daundkar and Mrinal Argade are the members of the team Predators.

Today we are celebrating but there are many things for which a lot of effort has been taken. It all starts with a dream, when we were in the team our seniors had aimed that we have to come first in the country. This year we began our dream to fulfill the dreams of everyone. We have the vision to be the world champions of 2020”, said the team captain Saket Raut.

Chairman of the Institute Satej D. Patil congratulated all the students and wished them all the luck for their future endeavors.
